How to use TBA with your accountant

Your accountant uses TBA for their online office. This page shows you, step by step, how to join, ask for help, sign, pay and send your papers. You only need a phone and a Google account. It is free for you.

Getting started

This takes about a minute.

  1. 1

    Open your firm’s link

Your accountant sends you a link, usually on WhatsApp. Tap it. No link? Go to “Find an accountant” on this website and search for your firm by name or city.

  2. 2

    Tap “Continue with Google”

Choose your Google (Gmail) account. There is no password to make and no long form. Use the same Google account every time, so your chats and papers are always there.

    Join page

  3. 3

    Give your name and mobile

The first screen says “Welcome” and asks for your name and mobile number. You do this only once. Your accountant uses the number to call you.

  4. 4

Put TBA on your phone (optional)

On the join page, tap “Download the app”. TBA then opens from your home screen like any app — no app store needed. On iPhone, tap Share, then “Add to Home Screen”.

Ask for what you need

Talk to your accountant’s office in the chat, just like WhatsApp.

  1. 5

    Say what you need

Open Messages, or tap the purple “Ask AI” button at the bottom of any page. Write in simple words, for example “I need GST registration for my shop”. The assistant asks a few questions about your business in one list. Answer them in one message if you can. When a person needs to look at it, the chat tells you, and someone from the firm replies within 10 hours.

  2. 6

    Read and sign your quote

Your quote comes in the chat. It shows each service, its price and the total with GST. The prices come only from your accountant’s own price list. Read it, then sign with your finger on the screen. You can download the signed copy any time.

Pay safely

You pay your accountant directly. TBA never asks you to pay anywhere else.

  1. 7

Pay with the “Pay now” button

After you sign, a “Pay now” card appears in the chat. Pay by UPI (GPay, PhonePe, Paytm), card or net banking. Most firms take payment in up to three parts: the first part to start, the next ones as the work moves ahead. You get an invoice for every payment.

Send your documents

A clear photo from your phone is enough. No scanner needed.

  1. 8

Send the papers on the list

After your first payment, the chat shows the list of papers your accountant needs, a few at a time. Tap the + button next to the message box and pick up to 5 photos or PDFs at once, or use the Documents page. Each paper is ticked off the list when it arrives. Your accountant checks them and tells you if anything is missing.

    Monthly bills

Send your sales bills, purchase bills and bank statement whenever you have them — you don’t have to wait to be asked. Use “Upload bills” on the Documents page, or in the chat called “Documents bot”, and pick the month they are for (last month or this month). Many at once is fine. The Documents bot replies in that chat and tells you if a bill is from the wrong month or not in your business’s name. Some firms also send a message each month listing what to send.

Follow your work

You never need to call to ask “what is the status?”.

  1. 10

    See every step

My Progress shows where your work is: quote, payments, documents and the work itself. It also shows the name and phone number of the person from the firm handling your case. They may call you when an OTP comes to your mobile — for example for GST registration.

    Get reminders

Your firm sends reminders and news to the bell at the top of the screen. On the notifications page, tap “Get alerts on this device” to see them on your phone even when TBA is closed.

Common questions

Do I have to pay to use TBA?

No. TBA is free for you. You only pay your accountant for their work, through the Pay now button.

Which Google account should I use?

Any Gmail account. Use the same one every time — if you sign in with a different one, you will see an empty portal.

Which files can I send?

Photos (JPG, PNG) and PDFs. A clear photo from your phone is fine — keep the whole page in the picture and avoid shadows.

Nobody has replied. What should I do?

When the assistant hands your question to a person, someone from the firm replies within 10 hours. If it is urgent, call the person shown on My Progress.

I joined the wrong firm.

If nothing has started yet, just open the right firm’s link and sign in again. If you already have quotes, papers or messages with a firm, write to us from the Contact page and we will sort it out.

How do I sign out?

On a computer, tap the exit icon (an arrow leaving a door) at the top right. On a phone, open the menu (the three lines at the top right) and tap the same icon at the bottom.
